The wiki article on advanced generation is also worth a complete read. The forums could also offer some good ideas. You might also cross-post to r/dfworldgen, but it's essentially dead. What are your parameters? I'd be interested to play with them myself. Anecdotally, I will say with a small world, several thousand beasts, and 80% or 90% required left, I get uninvited guests at least once a year, if not more. I would say this works for me, but I just realized I rarely actually export the info and check to see what I have left. Have you changed the check condition on beast percentage? You can change both the year it begins to check and the percentage left required in the options.
